What is a Pump Track?
A pump track is a type of bike park or trail designed for riders to propel themselves using a “pumping” motion, without pedaling. It’s typically a flowing circuit of rollers and berms that allow riders to generate speed and momentum by moving their bodies up and down, using the bike’s momentum to carry them through.
Pump tracks are super popular among mountain bikers, BMX riders, and even some motocross enthusiasts! They’re a great way to improve skills like timing, balance, and flow, and can be ridden at various speeds, making them accessible to riders of different skill levels.
Some pump tracks are designed for specific disciplines, like mountain biking or BMX, while others are more general-purpose. They’re often found in bike parks, skate parks, or dedicated pump track facilities.
